Screen cant recognize Ubuntu 8.10

Asked by Jdomingo22

So I downloaded the Ubuntu ISO image and copied to a CD, did the whole instalation process to dualboot with Windows XP.
The instalation wizard thing said I had to restart the computer so I restarted it. On the boot screen(black screen when just turning on comp.) I was asked to choose Windos or Ubuntu I chose ubunto and everything when fine so far I saw the Ubuntu orange loading bar and after that a instalation/progress bar which I guess finished the Instalation then my computer restarded again, I again chose to run Ubuntu then my screen when black( it wasn't off) with a message saying "Input not recognizable" .

During the instalation I had no problems and I actually cought a glimpse of Ubuntu but mu ACER plg n' play screen refused to recognize the signal after the install was done.

Do I need to re install Ubuntu??
Do I need a new driver ?
Or is my screen messed up?

Try CTRL+ALT+F1 are you getting login prompt? If you do try running

dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

If that doesnt' work you can try booting the recovery mode from the grub menu or boot cd

I'm glad you got it working in the end, nicely done. The "Input not recognizable" message is a bit of a mystery. Hopefully one day you'll get rid of it but it sounds like its just a minor irritation now hopefully.

Thanks for getting back to us with this
