pcmcia compact flash adapter doesn't work

Asked by Andrey Zaitsev

Hello!

I have an Acer Aspire 5101 AWLMi laptop with Ubuntu 7.04 64-bit installed. When I try to insert a pcmcia compact flash reader with a card in it I get the dmesg output listed in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.20/+bug/111690. And of course there are no devices that can be mounted and auto-mount does not happen. As I can see there were similar bugs in older kernels (currently i'm using 2.6.20-15) and they were fixed in Feisty beta/RC.

So are there any ideas how to fix/overcome this problem?

I would suggest you paste your issue into that bug report rather then open a support ticket. That way all the conversation is in one place.

Thanx fo reply.

Actually it was my bug report. Nevertheless I've added some some additional info about the bug to the bug report. It seems that hardware is identified but not mounted, or mounting. Modules pata_pcmcia, pcmcia and pcmcia_core are loaded but no media mounts.

I was able to fix this problem by using the alternate version of the DISTRO. You can check out my solution at: http://www.scottsbots.com/articles/17.php.
