Suspend to disk/RAM doesn't work, xserver problem

Asked by Jan Kaláb

I did a fresh Feisty installation on my laptop. When I tried to suspend it to disk, and then wake up, the xserver seems to be a bit confused (showing only black screen with busy cursor and constantly restarting). I even couldn't switch to virtual terminal. But it's still better then Edgy, it doesn't woke up, and broke my swap aprtition. So, when we was trying to get it work with my friend on Edgy, we have came to similar state as on Feisty now. And he was saying something about 915resoution, which didn't started (because I need 1280*800 resolution). And my graphic card is Intel 945GM.

What laptop are you using? Can you attach the output of
$ lspci -vv -d 8086:24ca
if there is such a device?

I'm have the same problem, using a Sony Vaio VGN-N21S/W, Feisty install. Today I'll try updating the xorg drivers from xserver-xorg-video-i810 to xserver-xorg-video-intel + 915resolution.

I have had this problem with my Linux Certifed laptop ever since I tried to update it from Feisty (which it came with) to Gutsy. My solution is to run the 2.6.20 linux kernal no matter what version of ubuntu I am using...I now use Hardy. I cannot at all get the video working with the later linux kernels.

Can you help with this problem?
