Cant get Joystick to work

Hi all using Ubuntu 8.10 with all updates.
I have a USB Joystick Logic3 Star Fighter. And I just can not get it to work with any game I try.
I have used Open Arena and Alien Arena and it don't work, it also don't work on any other.
I have of course calibrated my Joystick.

Is there some thing I can do here to help?

pls install following package via synaptic (System-Administration):
xserver-xorg-input-joystick

what might be helpfull to is the package "joystick".
