black screen after loading Ubuntu

I have a Core 2 Duo E8300,ATI Radeon HD3870,4 gb ram and i whant to install the ubuntu 8.10.I try to boot from LiveCD and i had a Black Screen.What i need to do?And how then i could install it?Sorrry for my English)

try the Alternate CD Instead to install ubuntu:

Try to boot in " Safe Graphics Mode " option, press F4 at boot menu.
