Shutdown, Suspend, Restart buttons missing

Asked by andybond13

Ubuntu 8.10

These buttons used to be at the bottom of the login/out menu but are no longer.

I tried the System/Admin/Login/Local show business. But it was already enabled, so enabling it solves nothing.

I can still logout on this menu and shutdown from the main login screen.

I added a second power button to the top taskbar and that had all the other buttons.

do you see the bottom end of the GDM on the Screeen?, maybe its a Resolution problem...

you can reinstall the GDM by typing on the Terminal:

sudo apt-get purge gdm ; sudo apt-get clean ; sudo apt-get install gdm

That's a way around the problem, not The Fix. The second power button doesn't have suspend either. But I will use this until I find The Fix.

"do you see the bottom end of the GDM on the Screeen?, maybe its a Resolution problem..."

I don't believe that this is the problem. My menu is on the top right of the screen and I can definitely see the bottom of it. Thanks though.

Magically fixed itself... I'm unsure why.
