all settings, network, wired switch will not stay ON

Dell Inspiron 531. New install Ubuntu 16.04 (have used DVD on another computer, works fine).
On the Dell, no Internet. On System Settings, Network, the Wired, ON-OFF switch will not stay ON. It will stay on for one or two seconds, then switches back to OFF.
On other computer (HP Compaq dc5800 Microtower), the switch stays ON.
Airplane Mode OFF.
No Network proxy.

Do you have a switch to enable / disable the wireless? If so, press it.

It is on now. I looked for switch to enable / disable wireless, never found it. I played around with Ethernet Networks. When I added Ethernet connection 2, the switch went on and stayed on. I don't understand, but it's working. Solved.
