Cannot access Internet/no IAN recognized

Asked by ppayne

Uninstalled Ubuntu and installed Windows XP Professional. I have no internet service since I did this. I tried to reinstall Ubuntu and it states there are missing items and it will not re-install. I have DSL thru a cable company and they stated, as did Dell, that I need drivers to have Windows recognize my Ethernet because between the uninstall and install processes, the drivers were removed. How do I get drivers if I cannot access the Internet to download them?

Not much people uses Windows XP Professional here to submit to you a link for Windows Drivers,
you need support for a Microsoft product, not for Ubuntu.

Thank you but I have the installation disk but it apparently does not have the drivers on it. That's my problem and I cannot access the internet to download. I'm needing something I can install to get the drivers into my system. Thanks again.

Try setting up a dual-boot system and if Ubuntu lets you connect to the net you can save the Windows drivers on the Windows partition easily enough. A dual-boot system is much more robust and each can help fix problems with the other

Good luck with this
