The Desktop-CD (aka Live-CD) sometimes has troubles to boot up properly. I know this from my laptop. It can't boot the Desktop-CD. Instead of the Desktop-CD i would recommend to install Ubuntu via the Alternate-CD. You can get this CD also from

http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download

Don't forget to check the "Check here if you need the alternate desktop CD. This CD does not include the Live CD, instead it uses a text-based installer." option.

The result at the end is the same.

And, how do i uninstalled the GRUB from my 1st hrd drive since i am having trouble at boot up, it just hang ("GRUB laoding state 1.5. .... please wait..") but nothing happened. I had to reboot and press F12 on my options given to me when i just exit my bios (bios are current, i keep chkng for updates) so that i am able to get inot wxp and ask for help here.

If wxp means Windows XP, then you can restore its bootloader on the mbr with a dos boot floppy or cd (win98 for instance) and type fdisk /mbr. The Windows XP installation CD has a similar "rescue"-option, but I don't remember exactly how it works.

Thanks for your question.

Please download the "Alternate Desktop CD". Just go to "http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download" and click on "Check here if you need the alternate desktop CD".

Both CD share the same content, but the Alternate Desktop CD comes with a text based installer. If it still hangs while booting, please report which error it gives.

Can you help with this problem?
