Live cd won't allow input to run from disk

Asked by BrianB

I'm trying to run the live cd. When I get to the options screen, the top choice is highlighted by default ( run cd without changing hard drive). I push the "enter" key and nothing happens. I can use the up and down arrow keys
to move through the five different choices, and the "enter" key works for the other choices, but will not work to allow me to run the live cd( top choice in the menu). Any ideas ?

What are you trying to run it on? Desktop? Laptop? Does it have a make and model? What are the basic system specs - particularly how much RAM (memory) does it have. 32 bit or 64?

I'm trying to run it on a P3 800 Mhz Compaq Deskpro. 512 MB RAM. 32-bit WinXP Pro SP3. I have an older version of Ubuntu live cd and it runs fine on the same computer. Would the newer version require newer components ? Or maybe because I burnt it on a cd-rw instead of a cd-r ? Ideas ?

CD-RW would have more to do with it than the version of the CD, Typically they have better compatibility the newer they get, and I have run the 8.04 and 8.10 liveCDs against machines with as little as 256MB of ram.

Can you help with this problem?
