problem at start up

Asked by tasos0017

i upgraded from ubuntu 8.04 to 8.10 using this command from the terminal: update-manager -d

during the install i had an error for ubuntustudio (a package of sound programs) but it continued and finished successfully.

now when ever i reboot the pc it stucks for a while at the ubuntustudio splash-screen and then does something in the command line, testing hardware and stuff, that takes 2 min every time.
it says among others ...: [34.7654739] usb 5-1: string descriptor 0read error: -110

i removed this ubuntu studio but doesnt change anything
i have no brocken packages
(eventually i can log into ubuntu)

thanx for the understanding.......

Hmm

Could be anything... you might want to start looking for interrupt problems first.

This might be of some help

You can log into ubuntu with no problems great!

Good luck with your research on the problem!
