cant install vista no drivers

Asked by Richard

i decided to try Ubuntu and well got a little impatient and installed it over vista on the hard drive. Being impatient me, i didnt make any recovery disks. now i have decided to go back to vista but it will not let me install. i boot up from the vista install disk and let it load, then i click install vista. this is where it pops up with an error saying its missing needed CD/DVD drive drivers and to insert the driver. i have the needed drivers but the vista installer wont recognize the cd drive and therefore i cant load the drivers. Now i dont know what to do. ill be glad to hear any and all advice and give any needed information.

Yup. I'm sorry to say that is definitely a Vista problem. Why do Vista tho? Surely Windows7 beta is better?

Alternatively i would personally recommend using these forums to fix whatever was troubling you about Ubuntu. It's great when you give it a chance.

Good luck

Probably. Usually the linux drivers are included in a standard install but occasionally we may need to hunt around for them a bit. Do you know the make and model(or at least series) of your Dvd drive?

Of course linux drivers wont work with Windows just the same as Windows drivers wont work (unless wrapped but that's technical) in Linux.

Drivers are kinda like a translation dictionary between the hardware and the OS
