I've downloaded and burned an Ubuntu .iso CD using MAC OS ... now how (exactly) do I validate this CD before using it to install Ubuntu on a reformatted computer? Thanks

Asked by jimbogy

How exactly ... step-by-step, please - I couldn't seem to figure it out through the instructions on the Ubuntu CD Download page - do I perform an MD5 maneuver on a freshly burned Ubuntu 8.10 .iso CD that I just made using Mac OSX ?

the md5 test shall be performed on the downloaded image. (how it might work in mac I'm not aware here is a google search link: http://www.neilturner.me.uk/2006/09/10/verifying_md5_checksums_o.html), but if u insert your burned cd the boot menu gives u the opportunity to make a test on the integrity of the disk (right after you choosed an language) - what might only make sure that your image is burned properly, but not if u downloaded the proper image.

Can you help with this problem?
