Ver 8.10 Does not see SATA for Install

Asked by Don Barnett

I am trying to install 8.10 desktop version on a SATA drive. I have tried with it in both RAID configuration and non-RAID. When the install reached the prepare partitions there are no drives to select. I have an AMD64 processor and am installing a 32bit version of 8.10. I have had some other issues with this version when I installed it on the IDE drive. It didn't see the onboard nic or video.
Could this problem be related to the 64 bit verses 32 bit. I have to have 32 bit for my apps to work.

Thanks

Hello Don,

when you say you tried raid and non-raid do you mean that you went into the motherboard's bios and changed the chipset/peripherals settings from RAID/SATA? or did you physically move a cable to move the drive from the raid controller to the non-raid sata controller on the motherboard?

I changed it in the bios. There is no raid controller on the motherboard.

It's a hardware problem. The bios is not finding the drives. Sorry!
