My soundcard is not working.

hi,
I am using Lenovo Y3000 410 Laptop with Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron LTS. I am unable to play sound. When i execute lpsci command it is showing the 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03) as device. Plz help me in this regard. Thanks in advance.

can you give us the output of the terminal command:

lshw -C sound

i'd like to see what sound module your using. mine is set to snd_hda_intel and I have an 82801H same as you. even revision 3 :)
