cannot find hard drive when trying to install linux on new computer
its simple
brand new computer, boot from linux cd, go through setup perfectly (ive done it before), until i hit the hard drive partition step (i think step 4), and the box that should have something in it is completely blank, you can't type anything in it or get any options from it.
i later installed xp successfully, but it shows my 320gb harddrive as 300gb. weird.
computer is:
core 2 duo 2.5ghz e5200 (i think)
320gb SATA hard drive pluged into plug SATA5 (i pluged into 1 but then the drive was completely unsee able)
ati 4850 HD graphics card (yehh!)
i dont understand why the ubuntu disc cant see the drive, or its partition. (ive done it before with xp on another computer, and it allowed me to choose the amount of harddrive each OS took up.
note. im using the i386 ubuntu cd version, is that the right one for my computer?
plz dear god help me!
