KDE help center not working after install

Asked by Infogleaner

I tried the install and got this:

 sudo apt-get install khelpcenter
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
khelpcenter is already the newest version.
The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:
  fakeroot linux-headers-2.6.27-7 linux-headers-2.6.27-7-generic dkms patch
Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

Yet, when I'm in Kexi, (a database program for office) and ask to look at the Kexi handbook under the help menu, I get this:

Could not launch the KDE Help Center:
Could not find service 'khelpcenter'

It looks like it installed, but can't be reached by the program.

Has anyone here seen this?

Thanks,
Infogleaner

Marcobra's (and thanks for the response) command did load something, but the error message remains the same.

As a workaround, I went here:

http://docs.kde.org/development/en/koffice/kexi/

This is fine as long as there is an internet connection available, but not for standalone.

My research continues...

Same problem as above. khelpcenter installed but cannot be invoked from any kdevelopment package like Kate/kdevelop scripts etc. or from the command line in ubuntu 10

I seem to have the same problem with Amarok in Ubuntu 8.10.

I have run sudo apt-get install khelpcenter but I get the message that the latest version is installed.

Selecting Help in Amarok still gives the message

Could not launch the KDE Help Center:
Could not find service 'khelpcenter'

Hi

Yes, I get exactly the same message. You found out what's
going on there yet? No solution from my side yet.

I get the same message on Intrepid trying to get HELP on Kaffeine. The same message appears in KDE and Gnome. I think the problem is related to the name khelpcenter4. Possibly some scripts need to be changed?

Just another UNsatisfied customer.
(Package is installed, but cannot be found from kdevelop.)

Should the 'K' software packages (e.g. Amarok) be expected to work with Gnome, or is such Kubuntu/Ubuntu interoperability too much to expect?

Does anybody work on 'Cross Border' issues, assuming of course that this is a cross border issue?

Can you help with this problem?
