Have you searched Synaptic Package Manager for the new Nvidia drivers?
System menu - Administration - Synaptic is near the end
I used the search button to look for nvidia drivers and got a few results

Perhaps more importantly, have you tried
System menu - Administration - Hardware Drivers?

Thats where i go my ati drivers when i needed them.

Good luck and happy hunting
Tom :)

Dear Tom,

Sorry for the delay, I have found that Ubantu had not been updated, my fault, almost 200 updates, all done now!!!!

One of the updates was for Nvidia 177.

I have tried what you suggested, being very new to Linux I don't know how to use the Synaptic Package Manager, I have used the hardware drivers, but all I end up with is a small popup with a No Entry sign in it.

David.

Ok, can you take a screen-shot of the no entry sign and the window/pop-up around it? I'll send you an email so you can attach the screenshot when you reply to the email.

Have you managed to open Synaptic and have a look around? If it's not full screen then you might see a double arrow in the icons toolbar - looks a bit like chevrons? Click on that to get the Search button (otherwise its just the Quick Search tool which i don't like as much

Good luck with this :)
