Dell Inspiron 6400n with Ubuntu 8.10. After the recent update most of the screensaver themes have disappeared from us. How can I reinstall them?

Hi John

Maybe this helps: choose System > Prefrences > Scrennsaver. Ther you can activate a screensaver.

Hope it helps.

sorry, tried something above.

If peter's solution doesn't work, please open a terminal (Applications>Accessories>Terminal) and type in:

sudo apt-get install xscreensaver-gl screensaver-gl-extra xscreensaver-data-extra

(Then enter your password when asked, don't won't you won't see any visual feedback)

Once that has finished, the screensaver themes should be there again.

Thank you, Rugby471 for your help. The command you gave did not , for some reason, do the installation, however I went to Synaptic and installed the application from there. I now have sufficient themes to satisfy me for the time being.

Thank you, Peter, for your suggestion. I had tried that but did not succeed with getting the screensaver to work with enough themes. Am grateful for you help.
