How Do I Test To See if A webcam Is working through Ubuntu?

I Have a Digital Concepts Digital camera/webcam. But i cant5 figure out how to see if the webcam part is gonna work, It finds the camera when its plugged in, it then opens "F spot" so I know it can take the camera. but where do I go to use Video? Does anyone know?

you can test your webcam with cheese, skype, or vlc.
