Recent Upgrade Caused Color Problems w/ Printer

Asked by Nancy Smith

After I recently upgraded, my printer (HP PSC 2210 - all-in-one) stopped printing the correct colors. I can't print an entire page (which should be in black) before the colors start changing on their own to red, blue or yellow, then nothing. And the printer prints completely different colors than I have chosen for my colored documents.

I remember shortly after the upgrade (can't remember which one) there was a brief message at the top of the screen about some other printer (can't remember name of printer).

Can anyone help me figure out how to get the colors on my printer working properly again?

Thanks so much!
Nancy

What happens when you try to print a test page? Do all of the colors show up correctly?

No, the test page does not print the correct colors.

OK. Try a Hardy live CD and print a test page from there. Do all of the colors show up correctly?

If so, you'll need to download and install the latest hplip back on your upgraded system.

I'm sorry; I'm technology challenged.

What is a Hardy live CD, and how do I access it and print a test page from it?

By the way, thanks so much for your help.

Go to the Ubuntu home page and download Hardy Heron (Ubuntu 8.04-2 LTS) instead of Ibex (8.10). Burn the ISO and boot from the CD as you would have when you initially installed Ubuntu. You should be able to print a test page from the Live CD once you're settled into your desktop. If the test page works, you'll know that it's an issue with hplip.
