Desktop icons dissapear

Asked by Sleft

Sometimes when I login the desktop icons on my second and third desktop are gone (I've got three desktops and the icons are not gone from the first one). It's also impossible to open the right-click menu on the second and third desktops when this happens. Sometimes it gets worse than that when the panels disappear aswell from the second and third desktop. However I've found a fix for this which is to disable desktop effects (I use the default compiz one) via System - Settings - Desktop Settings and then enable it again. Is there any way to fix this? I suspect a bug in the window manager.

Desktop Effects are still not in the mainstream Ubuntu. They are just there as a technology preview so expect this kind of things to happen (although there are systems where it is stable).
