The usb camera i like a usb disk and i think this usb disk might be unclean unmounted using Windows...

So please using windows perform an disk check on that camera disk (if is possible) and then retry to mount it in Ubuntu...

Hope this helps

Plug your digital camera

Please open a Terminal from the menu Applications → Accessories → Terminal and type:

lsusb

the "lsusb" command = lower "LSUSB"

Copy and paste the result here

Thank you

Your camera usb id seems this:

Bus 001 Device 007: ID 0839:1058 Samsung Techwin Co., Ltd

Please be sure your Ubuntu 8.04 is fully upgraded/updated check it from menu
System→Administration→ Update Manager and press the "Check" button install updates and restart your system.

Sometimes updates can solve mount issue..

Hope this helps

does the camera have internal memory? or are the photos stored on a memory card? Can you plug the memory card directly into your computer via a memory card reader? i suspect the data on the memory card may have become corrupted. you can try to reformat it and see if it works after that.

Same problem here with Ubuntu 8.01 and an Insignia NS-DSC7P09. Used to work and no longer does work after batteries died during a video upload. But the weird thing is, it mounts just fine on both XP and OS X machines. Is there any way to reprogram or otherwise fix the memory card without replacing the card? Those things aren't exactly cheap. :(

You may have solved this but I had the same problem. I was using a USB cable with the correct connection, but it was not the one supplied with the camera. When I used the cable supplied with the camera it worked. The first cable worked with other equipment, so there must be something special about the camera cable.

Can you help with this problem?
