How do I install Ubuntu onto a blank hard drive on one computer from another computer?

Asked by Randy D.

I have a computer that has a wiped hard drive and I want to use that computer as an Ubuntu Linux system. I also have another computer that has Windows XP.

Is there anyway that I can use the computer with the Windows XP to download the Ubuntu Linux system onto the computer with a wiped hard drive?

Well, Randy best practise is to download the Ubuntu ISO-file from the official website, burn it and later insert the disc into the "clean" system you described. Don't you have any optical drives available for that?

In case you don't have one simply connect the sytems via LAN and read the following:

2] http://marc.herbert.free.fr/linux/win2linstall.html

Also have a look at "instlinux" because your system is "clean".

Good Luck! ,-)

Unfortunately I do not have the powers to change the state of this question to SOLVED, EXPIRED or INVALID. Someone here at Launchpad either grant me that permission or simply apply the change in state to this question, please.

Can you help with this problem?
