USB HD, Wireless mouse, Scanner: 3 Problems in Feisty 7.04

Asked by dd

My USB detachable HD, wireless mouse and Cannon Lide20 scanner are not working with Feisty 7.04. Can you give me any possible prediction of the time it will take to use these on Feisty? Or, do you suggest me transfer to some other distro? Will they work fine on Edgy?

Thanks for the question.
Which USB HD and wireless mouse are you using?
And how are these not working?

My bug-report for the Toshiba USB Harddisk was: Bug 109563
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/109563)
And the bug report for the wireless mouse was:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.15/+bug/37004/comments/8
and
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.15/+bug/37004/comments/9

You have not mentioned the scanner thing, and hence I am not giving the link for that.
If you want I can send you both 'lsusb' and 'dmesg' outputs for both of these two: the USB disk and the USB wireless mouse.

Thank you for responding.

The Toshiba USB HD problem got solved, just by plugging the device to the back panel of the cabinet, in place of the front panel port. Don't know why? Maybe there is some electric current difference between the two set of ports. Anyway, the HD problem is not there any more. But, the two other, scanner and wireless mouse problem, they are still there.

Can't help you with the scanner, but here's the link for this bug if you don't already have it.

What wireless mouse are you using?

Wireless Optical Mouse MI-4530P (www.trust.com)

The dmesg output is:

<<
[ 1960.047671] usb 1-3: new low speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 4
[ 1960.260140] usb 1-3: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
[ 1960.274195] input: Wireless Mouse Wireless Mouse as /class/input/input6
[ 1960.274306] input: USB HID v1.10 Mouse [Wireless Mouse Wireless Mouse] on usb-0000:00:03.0-3
>>

'lsusb' shows:

<<
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 05fe:0011 Chic Technology Corp. Browser Mouse
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0461:4d15 Primax Electronics, Ltd
>>

The Primax is the Dell USB mouse, and the 'Chic' thing is the wireless mouse.

It is getting detected and shown alright, but not working. I checked it by taking it to a MSW-XP box that the device is not faulty.
