I have blue screen and I can not get my computer to allow me to upload ubuntu from my cd-rom

Asked by whedgepe

I got a blue screen and I do not want to totally erase all of my files without backing up some of my files. My computer wil not allow me to run my CDRom and therefore I am not getting the option to upload ubuntu from my cd rom. I got the download from this site and I burned the file onto the cd that is now in my compaq presario v6105 nr. I have no idea what to do but I need to hopefully be able to extract some files before totally recovering my computer erasing all personal files.

hi,
are you sure have burnt the iso as iso image?

You must not burn the iso as data; burn it as iso image. Burn at the lowest possible speed to avoid CD errors.

When you have burnt the Ubuntu image correctly you should see many files and folders on the CD, not one big .iso file.

Have you checked your bios settings to boot from CD first?

Also you might need to use the alternate CD if there is some sort of incompatibility.

Can you help with this problem?
