Update Manager offers Distrubution Update for Mplayer but cannot select to install

Asked by Aiden83

The Ubuntu Update Manager GUI shows (after checking for updates) a Distribution Update for Mplayer.
However this is greyed out and I can't select the check box to install this. This is the only update available at present.

Also, when there are other updates available, I can select the Mplayer update but upon subsequent checks for new updates it reappears as described in first paragraph above.

Is this a bug, the update not really available, or that I just haven't enabled the sources properly?

I previously had http://packages.medibuntu.org/ for the hardy distribution enabled, but when I last looked in software sources it was not checked (selected) as a source.

Today, the automatic updates feature asked me to do a partial upgrade, in which mplayer was to be upgraded.

The terminal popdown which is integrated into the updater said something about changing from medibuntu to ubuntu source for mplayer (not sure, but is there a log in which to revisit this output now that the updater is closed?). I am guessing that this has just become available in the ubuntu repos? And whilst medibuntu was not enabled as a source it was greyed out in synaptics?

The problem is now solved though.
