I am loosing all settings and installation whenever I restart the system, any one can help

me out? I am usising Ubuntu1.8.

I assume you are using Ubuntu08.04.1(LTS) or Ubuntu08.10.1;
Can you specify which settings you loose when you reboot your PC, where do you see them?!?

I have made settings for Network like LAN IP etc. then I install Runy, MYSQL Apache Server etc.

When I reboot the system the loos all things. I am using root user on terminl end.

Waheed,

please try to do it in steps:
first ONLY set your Network settings correct (Lan, IP, hosts, etc.)
Save it, and reboot;
check if they are still correct...

If yes:
install 1 program, check settings, reboot, check settings; etc.

After what step the settings are changed?!?

If you work this way, we can pinpoint where the problem is coming from.

I am saving the network settings from

System >> Preferences >> Network Configuration

then i define my proxy settings

but when i reboot my system not settings being saved.

Please tell me is ther any other way for it.
