Cannot mount HDD with MS BSD problems

Asked by ticker

I have a HDD from another PC that I need to recover some data from, however this drive suffered from MS BSD problems i.e. IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL. I am not concerned about correcting this BSD error as I intend to install Unbuntu on the drive so I just need to recover its data. When running a live CD, Unbuntu, I cannot mount the drive. I have tried to force a mount using the commands listed on the details drop down box in Unbuntu but to no avail. any assistance with my problem will be greatly appreciated.

I recommend you to use a recovery CD to do this job, you can use:
http://www.tux.org/pub/people/kent-robotti/looplinux/rip/
Donload the iso image and burn it, then boot from them and run TestDisk, Data Recovery.
you can find more info about TestDisk (installation and how to use it) at: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk
Hope this helps, let me know.

Can you help with this problem?
