boot error in ubuntu 8.10

I have ubuntu 8.10 fresh installed, but when ubuntu finish loading the screen go black and i don't know how to run safe graphic mode at the boot,i tried to press escape try he option in this list like recovery mode but nothing good happened, now when ubunt try to boot an error show up and tell me that (attempt to kill kernal in it) and i can't reinstall ubuntu because the same error.

What i should do?

U can download Ubuntu 8.10.iso, then burn DVD, install again! I have installed CD but don't success. I tride to install by DVD, It's okey. Good luck
