Linksys WUSB100 and Ubuntu 8.10

Asked by Novastb

Fresh newbie on Ubuntu. I followed the thread and did create the RT2870SAT.dat file and made a entry in the /etc/modules file. This is a dual boot system with Vista 64 which uses the WUSB100 wireless nic without any issues. Any ideas? I will need step by step instructions too. Thanks. Novastb

I read in another thread under Ubuntu help that the chipset for the Linksys WUSB100 is based on the RT2870 out of Taiwan. Ref http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=907809 from milanvora2. I too at the last step do not see the wireless nic device.

OK, I had to get the rt2870.inf and rt2870.sys files from the Windows install driver CD under AMD64 and use the ndiswrapper regardless of previous suggestions. I am now connecting fine. I am running Ubuntu 8.10 64bit with a Kontron Flex MB and Intel Duo 2.16GHZ CPU. Hooray for me, Happy New Year folks!
