login screen resolution not supported by monitor

Asked by Lawrence Blackburn

Hi
My monitor only supports 640x480 at 60Hz at 16 or 32 bits...I have upgraded from Dapper to Edgy and now I cannot see the login screen, I could not see all the other starting scripts under Dapper, but it did show me login screen...now I have to listen out for the drums!

I have tried...removing "quiet slash" and adding "verbose"
adding vga=785 and vga=758 .... but no improvement

Hope you can help
Lawrence

The best would be to login in safe mode and to modify your xorg.conf file adding the wished mode (and deleting those not appropriate).
Please let us know if you need guidance to do this.

Can you help with this problem?
