Desktop Effects using Compiz need a graphics card with enough power to handle the effects.

It looks like your motherboard (ASUS M2V-MX) with onboard (VIA Deltachrome) graphics is not sufficiently powerful to use Compiz.

You could purchase a PCIe graphics card and use that to be able to use Compiz effects in your system. Any recent nVidia card, or any AMD Radeon 4000-series card would be powerful enough.

Here in the USA such cards can be found mail order for as little as US$30-US$50. At the low end, something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127391 might be appropriate for you.
