Hi,
windows is a proprietary OS, if you have an official license you can ask any body to make you a copy of his windows cdrom (but be sure that the guy has the same version as your own one, for example MS Windows XP Home edition),
You can also ask Microsoft to send a cdrom copy (visit MS website)
in case you don't have a license you should buy one (IT is illegal to use a hacked license)
you don't need this with ubuntu.
kind regards

I have visited microsoft home page and I was asked to download a file. When doing this I keep getting an error message which says No application suitable for automatic installation is available for handling a file of this kind. How do i get access to the file it sits on the ubuntu desktop.

Hi.
What type of file do you have? It's an .iso file? any detail may help us to help you.
You may copy the file to a pen drive or to a CD/DVD.
Hope this help, let me know.

Peter, you download the Service Pack 3 for Office XP, not an operating system (Windows XP), until I know there is no way to download the Windows XP legally. You want it, then pay the price, you lost the CDs then go and buy it again, you want paid support for Ubuntu then go to Canonical and pay for it, you want paid support for Windows then God helps you.
Please, just stop making questions when you know the answers and being aggressive. What do you looking for? fun? microsoft advertising? Just leave this place.
