no sound ubuntu 8.10 plz help

hi peeps just installed 8.10 on my new laptop acer aspire 8930g i took vista off cos it feels very bulky compared to ubuntu here is some info hope it helps

i have tryed the stop pluse command line thing and tryed installing gmone alsa mixer and it never help still no sound thanks for ya time
