getting full doc's

Asked by Suunsu

I downloaded the Ubuntu 8.10 > Ubuntu Server software. But what I'd like to know is is there is someplace that I can download the entire Ubuntu 8.10 > Ubuntu Server Guide.
Is this version the best one for me to setup my first home server. I've never set up a server, so I'm looking for a good server version, but one that is fairly easy to get started with.

Thanks

Regarding an entire Ubuntu server guide, I would recommend picking up a book such as "Ubuntu 8 Server Administration and Reference" ISBN: 098177783X

If you plan to use Ubuntu Server for simple tasks such as file sharing, audio/video distribution or web development (like myself) then you will find a mass of documentation on blogs and dedicated Ubuntu tutorial websites.

Some examples:

http://www.unix-tutorials.com/tutorials.php?os=Ubuntu
http://www.ubuntugeek.com/category/server

You will also find plenty of documentation at the Ubuntu community wiki.

If you feel comfortable working at a command line then Ubuntu server if worth playing with. An Ubuntu desktop installation however would also be fine for home server needs.

Sure! I'm by no means an expert on server topics but I'll help out where I can.

Can you help with this problem?
