The following should bring it back.

1) Right-click on the panel(that is, the bar the menu was previously on) that you want the menu to be on.
2) Click on "Add to Panel"
3) In the new window that should appear select "Menu Bar" from the available items.
4) Click "(+)Add"

This should add the menu bar back to your panel. If you wish to move them menu bar, simply right-click on it, select "move," and then drag it into position. Let me know if any of my explanation was unclear or if I have misunderstood your question.

Hi,
Same thing misteriously happened to me. ie the Kubuntu symbol that lets you launch programs disappeared.

The instructions above didn't help me - maybe they're for an older version of Kubuntu.

1) Right-click on menu bar
2) Click Add Widget
3) Select Application Launcher
4) Click "Add Widget" or drag it to menu bar

One thing seems goofed though, it's a pain to move the icon to where you want it on the menu bar.

Cheers
