Broadcom wireless with ndiswrapper doesnt work

Asked by slombardo89

I've been following guides for hours and trying all sorts of code. I have 2 sets of drivers that the are detected under windows wireless drivers. iwconfig shows the driver, ifconfig only shows lo. Also my wireless manager has dissapeared from the top of my screen completely. I have edited the /etc/network/interface also. Also says wlan0 has been disabled under sudo lshw -C network, but shows my driver in a seperate section. I am close to giving up on this and getting an external wireless device. The light still doesnt turn on for the wireless and I am just totally lost now.

I just re-installed ubuntu, plugged in a usb wireless adapter and it found my drivers. I eventually connected using those, although its pretty slow connection. Better than nothing!

Which ubuntu distro are you on? In Intrepid, the wl driver solves a lot of the old problems with the Broadcom chipset. I didn't need ndiswrapper after I upgraded.

Can you help with this problem?
