XPCOM errors running Firefox - "can't find pyabout.py or libpyloader.so"

Asked by Gregg Pederson

While running Firefox 3.0.5 the error console continuously logs the following errors:

Failed to load XPCOM component: /usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9.0.5/components/pyabout.py

Failed to load XPCOM component: /usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9.0.5/components/libpyloader.so

Firefox seams to be running ok... but I want to fix this. I believe it has something to do with my profile permissions? I am new to Linux and not a programmer, so give me a fix in a language a novice can understand.

Thanks, Gregg

FIXED! I went into Profile Manager (Terminal: "firefox -profilemanager") and deleted "Default" profile and made a new one. I allowed it to delete all personal data and re-load Firefox . No more XPCOM errors!

Not-Fixed... It seems to only happen to my Home Page, a local news station KSBY.com. I changed my Home Page and it doesn't happen. Click on KSBY bookmark and it starts again. Good enough for me...
