ubuntu max out

i want to know what is the maxed out setting ubuntu 8.10 can handle as far as processor memory an harddrive ive got a machine thats got a pentium core i7 2.66ghz ive got 4 sata harddrive at 4 terabytes an 8gig of ram which i guess is some what over kill but windows wont reconize anything over 1tb an 4gig of ram so will ubuntu or is it a waste for them to even manufacture these parts
