Ubuntu installtion destroyed my drive

Computer: Lenovo T61p with hidden winxp preload partition.
Drive: C - 142 GB NTFS running winxp (50GB occupied).

problem:
I started Ubuntu 8.10 installtion on my laptop, in the partitioner i resized the C NTFS drive
from 142 GB to 80 GB. Some time after the process begin it had an error. now the entire
C drive is ext3 file system, and only 3 gb is occupied. i tried to use the Undo changes button
but nothing changed. what can i do to revert the process??

it is irreversible once you have applied the changes to the partition you cannot go back.But if you have some important documents in the xp partition you can use utility such as testdisk to attempt to recover your lost files

Do you happen to know what the error message was? Did you have a backup?
