I think you may have a x64 .iso (disk)
and need a 386 .iso (disk) but i'm guessing

if you cant get through the install
 try alternate cd
 http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/

I have had fun using this howto
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/LowMemorySystems
good luck.

Can you help with this problem?
