NEWBEE WITH WIRELESS CONNECTION ISSUES

Asked by P_STAR

I really want to start my family on the path of Linux based software. I myself have no formal training and seem to only get myself in more trouble as I go along.......sorry.... I just installed Ubuntu from a Ubuntu Linux book from William von Hagen. It is installed on a Gateway Laptop. MX6450 and I cannot get any wireless connection at all. I need help and I need it written with crayons LOL. Very basic trouble shooting please. From what I have read Ubuntu does not automatically work with my wireless adapter. It goes on to talk about using the command line...... I'm not sure where to go or what to do......I'm lost and hope that someone is willing to give a helping hand to the new guy in town. Thanks in advance!

As you, I too am new at it. I found a book at http://book.opensourceproject.org.cn/distrib/ubuntu/unleashed/. that gives a lot of info for your problem look at Part II, chapter 18. That may help.
