ubuntu 9 - black screen - don't boot after today's update

Compaq Presario amd 64 - NVIDIA.

Tried recover - broken packages - can't install nvidia - go on a loop.

normaol boot = black screen

9.04 has not been released yet. I would suggest sticking with 8.10 until 9.04 is released.
