cant install ubuntu 8.10 on Win XP (AMD 64, 512 RAM)

Asked by Dreadnought

Hello guys, i've tried endless possibilities, to install ubuntu (first 8.04, now 8.10), i've downloaded the live cd, and even ordered the original live cd (which arrived a couple of hours ago). I am a real noob in this topic. But i'll try my best to explain the errors i am encountering. First of all, with the ordered live cd, i get the Error 15 (file not found, and after that, i get the error 27 (which i'm not sure what it was). i cant even boot directly from the cd. With Ubuntu 8.04 i could still boot from the cd, but when i tried to install it, it ALWAYS canceled before the end of the installation.... What shall i do?
The installation of ubuntu 8.10 from the genuine cd, was the first installation, that didn't cancel.
Thanks in advance,

Philipp
