Reinstall 8.04 over 8.10?

Asked by Chetan

I would like to reinstall 8.04 over 8.10. A long and tedious search has not provided any specific steps or answers on how to do this. If anyone has attempted this successfully, I'd appreciate your insight and tips.

Thanks.

so backup the files and then run the 8.04 cd? Here's a follow up question: Will 8.04 ISO image be recognized on boot when I reinstall?

I have tried to do it and the machine locked up.

Installing 'over' will cause trouble, new installation is recommended.
If your home user directory is on a separate partition you may choose customized installation.
Depending on BIOS settings, LiveCD is able to boot.
