Home folder to desktop

Hi all using Ubunut 8.10 with all updates.
When I used ot have Ubuntu 8.04 it was easy to put the Home folder onto the desktop or to a panel
But now I cant find a way to do it?

Can any one help please?

I need a home folder on my desktop and one in my panel.

To get a home folder icon on your panel you can just drag the “Home Folder” entry from the “Places” menu to your panel.
For the desktop you right click your desktop and select “Create Launcher...”. Then you choose “Location” as the type and pick your home directory as the location.

I hope that solves your problem.
