Asked by tizzle66

I cannot access windows, and can only boot kubuntu using the cd. I need to remove kubuntu, as I have information I need to access in windows. Can anyone help? The summary line is what I get when I try to boot without the cd.

erm, your header title seems a wee bit misleading.
You have windows installed, but cannot access it due to some issue.
I assume either windows is broken or your installation of kubuntu has broken it.
If the installation of kubuntu broke it , google "ubuntu broke windows" or such
and the information returned will be instructions to manually configure a
program called "GRUB" that is responsible for booting OS's.
If your problem is because windows is just busted, I'm afraid your not going
to be able to fix that with ubuntu. Please, run pidgin, connect to irc,
and type /c #windows or /j #windows(I'm too lazy to tell which) and ask there for help.

im new to linux. i'm not sure if I partitioned correctly to begin with, which may have led to this. When I fdisk, I get this:
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ fdisk

Usage: fdisk [-l] [-b SSZ] [-u] device
E.g.: fdisk /dev/hda (for the first IDE disk)
or: fdisk /dev/sdc (for the third SCSI disk)
or: fdisk /dev/eda (for the first PS/2 ESDI drive)
or: fdisk /dev/rd/c0d0 or: fdisk /dev/ida/c0d0 (for RAID devices)

erm, don't be running fdisk.
run "mount".
If you erased windows by accident and broke your linux installation by accident,
please don't get to close to my computer. Please.
Hopefully you didn't erase the data you needed, because if you did,
your'e up a creek without a paddle.
Or much of a paddle. Data recovery software DOES exist.
