For Superior Audio Quality..

Hi Friends,

              In ubuntu 8.10,the sound prefences gives following options,

sound playback:(options)

HDAintelALC883Digital(ALSA)
HDAintelALC883Analog(ALSA)
HDAintelALC883Analog(oss)(3 similar names)
ALSA
OSS
PULSE
....NOW i`m in a confusion to choose the options since i dont know anything about them,i use a intel D processor which has realtek soundcard.....i expect a windows kind of a sound quality from the computer ....so pls help me with this prob..

Besides pulse IS the default.

Which to use - ALSA, OSS, Pulse - depends on what you want to use in your system. You can just set it to "Autodetect" if you are not sure.

Some points to note:

1. Intel processors do not have soundcards.
2. Realtek manufacture sound chips for motherboards.
3. Sound quality is not dependent on your choice of operating system but rather on your hardware.
4. If you want superior sound, you must install a soundcard.

5. There is no point in posting the same question twice in two days (see question 52234) sice the answer will remain the same..
