Sound refuses to work no matter what in Ubuntu 8.10

Asked by calisoca

I have installed Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex), and no sound will play at all.

I've already run alsamixer, and it allowed me to change the volume setting. I ensured that the volume was set at max.

I have gone through my similar community posts and tried various solutions, but nothing seems to work. Would anyone have any idea on how to fix this? I would greatly appreciate the help!

Here is some information to help.

Hello,

have you tried PulseAudio? http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=776739&page=1
It worked for me, I hope that it will work for you, too.
